I don't know if you you guy's are a fan of jpg magazine,- easily one of the greatest magazines out there. But something really shitty is going on over at 8020 publishing as evidence by a post by JPG co-founder Derek Powazek's blog post.
In one evening, Paul removed issues 1-6 from the JPG website, removed Heather from the About page, and deleted the “Letter from the Editors” that had lived on the site since day one. Paul informed me that we were inventing a new story about how JPG came to be that was all about 8020. He told me not to speak of that walk in Buena Vista, my wife, or anything that came before 8020.
I felt so bad about what happened to Derek and to the users of both the site and readers of the magazine that I canceled my subscription. I'm not the only one either, If you refresh the photos section of the site every so often the image submissions are dropping pretty fast.
If you have a JPG account account and would also like to delete your account go to "edit profile" and you can cancel from there.
Let me know what you think!
UPDATE: 8020 has posted an Update to a a posting that discussed the departure of Derek. From the site:
Update: There have been a lot of questions from the community today about us rewriting history and we think it is important to say that we have no intention of rewriting the history of JPG Magazine. When 8020 was created we felt a photography magazine was a perfect first title to start with. JPG Magazine existed before and was absolutely the inspiration for the new JPG magazine. Derek and the contributors behind the early issues are a critical part of who we are and the heritage of JPG magazine is not something to be erased or forgotten. The JPG magazine that Derek and Heather created will always be an inspiration to us and we are committed to the principles that they set out.
Well, I guess that's that then. I personally think it's a nothing but corporate gibberish, but what else can you expect from a corporation? Especially one that's been accused of betraying it's employees and extremely devoted customers/users.

Just got home from work.
But I had dinner at Frankie & Johnny's Pizza in Brentwood. Good Times.

An art Gallery in Santa Monica. Seeing how it was after 9pm, they weren't open but I shot some stuff from outside the window.
The end
So on my way to work yesterday, I saw three men with signs and one with a guitar standing in front of Mann's Chinese Theatre. The man with the guitar was singing a song with lyrics professing that God hates homosexuals. Most of the tourists seemed to be really offended by these men and were visibly uncomfortable.
I asked one of the men, Jeremy, the youngest of the group, if he felt he was religious and he replied, "No, not really...I guess I'm religious in my own way, but not in the way that I believe in any particular faith or anything...". Originally from Louisiana Jeremy said that he always felt that he had a calling to Christ since he was a "young man in high school" and that he knew that was why he felt "different".
Jeremy and his group do not claim to be representing any religion or group. According to Jeremy he doesn't even know the other two guys there. He claims that they all just happened to be in passing through Los Angeles at the same time.
Having claimed to being a part of demonstrations similar to this I asked him what was the response he got from people. "Most people ignore us, but some people get really upset..." Asked if there has ever been violence, "...yeah, sometimes, but nothing too serious, just broken noses, and black eyes...."
Jeremy left Louisiana and his job to do this full time.
If you're a big fan of Stuffonmycat.com (and why wouldn't you be?), then you will LOVE wiikitties.com. A site with no other content other than cats and wii controllers.
A couple of months ago. I was crossing the street in downtown Los Angeles and was stopped when I reached the other side by a police officer. I was told that I was to be given a ticket for walking on a "Don't Walk" sign. While the officer was writing me my ticket, I looked around, and saw that on each corner mixed into the crowds were police officers writing tickets.
Now, If you don't know the downtown area, it isn't unlike most cities in that it has 4 lane streets - which are approximately 50 to 60 feet wide.
How much was the ticket for? $125.35. That's right, for crossing in a cross walk in heavy near bumper to bumper traffic on a green traffic light and for being in the traffic "well" for about 15 seconds. $125.35.
Now, I didn't pay it. I went to court. I plead not guilty. I went back to court and when the officer didn't show up, the case was dismissed and I got to walk away by not paying a dime.
But I know that the average pedestrian in downtown isn't going to go to all that trouble. So instead they probably will show up on their court date and plead guilty and then pay $50-75 dollars -depending on how the judge is feeling.
I did a little research online after that and the general consensus on the various blogs I read was that the LAPD was making an attempt to improve the "quality of life" of the downtown area for those who are fortunate to live there. I don't know if this is true or not but it sounds plausable.
The LA Times also wrote an article about a large number of homeless people receiving jay-walking tickets.
That was a couple of months ago.
Today I saw a couple of officers writing tickets again. The pictures above are all I could squeeze off before getting on a bus.
